1. Please introduce yourself.
I'm Charlie. I'm a boy who is calm, relaxed, laid-back, serene, chill, easy-going, mindful, peaceful and sometimes funny.
2. How long have you been making websites?
Since November 2024.
3. And what got you into the hobby?
My friend Elo made a website. Originally her domain was elos-kewl-site.neocities.org but now it's elolel.neocities.org.
4. What kind of website are you most interested in?
Any website that has a Frutiger Aero feel.
5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?
The header and footer layout on my website is inspired by the Windows website from 2008. The rest of it is inspired by the Windows Vista and 7 desktops.

7. What's your favourite part about making websites?
You can write whatever you want in the code. You can use HTML elements to piece together sections of your site. I'll tell you my favourite HTML element in a minute.
8. And the thing you struggle with the most?
Trying to fine tune my page layouts to see if they look good.
9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?
I keep my site consistent, so the same layout is used across every page on my website. Except the splash screen and a few other pages.
10. How confident are you with CSS?
A little bit confident. If there's something I want to style that I don't know how to, I research on the internet to find out.
11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?
Not until I started answering this Q&A.
12. What is your favourite HTML element?
<div>. It divides a section of a website and gives it different styling, hence its name.
13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?
I'd probably do the HTML script first, then add CSS styling later on.
14. Do you know JavaScript?
I suck at JavaScript.
15. How about PHP?
I also suck at PHP.
16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?
Yes! It's themed around my all-time favourite aesthetic... the amazing Frutiger Aero!
17. Are you more focused on content or design?
Content first, then design.
18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?
No, and no.
19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?
I love Frutiger Aero websites.
20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?
When I finish with a page, I check to see if there are any errors I made, and if there are, I correct them.
21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?
I love buttons. As Dee Dee from Dexter's Laboratory would say, "ooooooooooooh! What does this button do?" I don't know about banners though.
22. What do you think of button walls in particular?
Absolutely confusing!
23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?
At the time of writing this, I am starting over, so I would give the site a Frutiger Aero feel.
24. Are you envious of other people's websites?
I'm envious of my own, because I made it!
25. What text editor do you use?
The Neocities Text Editor.
26. Why do you use that one?
Because it's easy to use.
27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?
I host my image files here on Neocities, so that there are no broken images anywhere!
28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?
Though they're both similar, Neocities is the best. Full stop.
29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?
At the time of writing, it's 107.77 MB. My website has a maximum size of 1 GB.
30. Do you keep local backups of your files?
Not all the time. At the time of writing, I'm currently revamping my site, so I'm keeping a few things from the old site, while the rest are being removed.
31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?
Simple websites for lots of information.
32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?
Blue is my favourite colour, but red is my second favourite.
33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?
No.
34. Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?
It's probably a hobby.
35. Do people in your real life know about your website?
No.
36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?
At the time of writing this, very often as I'm revamping this website, though I take frequent breaks (including sleeping).
37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?
At the time of writing, yes. This website is getting a revamp, so I'm changing it from a boring flat design to a more beautiful Frutiger Aero design.
38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?
It's me-focused!
39. Do you do web design professionally?
No.
40. If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?
I would love to. I've been dreaming about this recently.
41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?
Not so much.
42. Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?
DeviantArt's a great site. I like posting art and chatting with my friends on there.
43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?
I use WhatsApp to message my family. I like it because it's safe and private.
44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?
Not when working on websites. However, a few of my favourite pieces of music are the 2000 Boomerang theme by Michael Kohler of Bluetube and Flavorlab's rockin' soundtrack to Kart Kingdom.
45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?
Just this website.
46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?
I think many.
47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?

48. Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?
Actually, I've made some on DeviantArt. Some of my friends include Elo, Marco, TN, Vixie, Bella, Hevan, the list goes on.
49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?
It's fine, I guess.
50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?
Little to zero accessibility.
51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?
Try to make their sites feel more Frutiger Aero than flat.
52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?
I use lots of generic structure.
53. Do you consider different browsers?
A little. I hope this site is working on every browser - even the older ones like Netscape and Internet Explorer.
54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.
Google Chrome. If you don't have it, you should download it at https://www.google.com/chrome/.
55. And what OS are you on?
At the time of writing this, iPadOS on my iPad, Android on my Samsung flip phone and Windows 8.1 on my computer.
56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?
I like Windows 8.1 because its interface is a mix of both Frutiger Aero (yay!) and flat design (meh).
57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?
I'm not too sure.
58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?
Fuck that. I like listening to music but not when it's automatically played when the tab opens.
59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?
I don't know. I've never been in one before.
60. Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?
I don't have any web shrines but I might consider adding some soon.
61. Are your websites "cliche", in your opinion?
They are cliche, and I'm cliche too! *giggles*
62. What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?
My ideal website would be Frutiger Aero-themed, and I am striving for that.
63. Are you an artist? Do you draw or design your own assets?
Yes! And I draw and design assets too. I like using Inkscape to make vector art and PBS Kids art, and for traditional art, I use FlipaClip, paint.net and ibisPaint X. I also use Blender for 3D art!
64. What are your favourite resource sites?
The Frutiger Aero Archive.
65. Is there a habit you just can't get away from no matter how hard you try?
Fixing a section I don't like in a page. It's hard knowing how you want it to look.
66. What's your biggest advice for a new webmaster?
Never EVER make your website look boring.
67. Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?
Quite a bit of both, but mostly in CSS.
68. What do you think of frameset layouts?
That shit's really old. I don't use that.
69. How about table-based layouts?
My old website from 2024 to 2026 used to have this. Nowadays, table-based layouts are obsolete.
70. Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?
I don't know.
71. Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?
HTML, I guess.
72. Have you ever made a page with no CSS? It's useful for your thoughts.
I have, once. Making pages without CSS sounds kinda nice, and makes me feel calm, just like how I normally am.
73. Do you ever find yourself making layouts with nothing to put on them? Or do you only make layouts when the need arises?
I make layouts when I feel I want to.
74. Would you consider yourself a beginner? Or advanced? Somewhere in the middle?
Somewhere in the middle, 'cause I'm good at HTML and CSS but suck at JavaScript and PHP.
75. Do you have a habit of looking at the source code of websites you visit?
Yes, sometimes.
76. How did YOU learn how to make websites?
Through some HTML and CSS tutorials I found on Google.
77. Do you ever force elements to do things they're not supposed to?
I don't quite know.
78. Thoughts on floating elements?
Useful. If "clear" is added to the style of a non-floating element following a floating element, that is.
79. When you're sizing stuff, what do you use first? Do you use px, em, %, or something else?
I switch between these a lot.
80. Do you have a favourite font?
I have lots of favourite fonts but my all-time favourite is Gill Sans.
81. Would you run a website with another person? How would that work?
Not really.
82. Do you surf the Web to find new personal websites very often?
Sometimes.
83. Do you bookmark other people's websites? How would you feel knowing someone else bookmarked yours?
No but I'd feel surprised.
84. What do you want people to be most impressed with when they see your website?
The Frutiger Aero look and feel of the entire website.
85. Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?
Yes, and yes. I collect Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles and Nintendo consoles as well as games.
86. How often and for how long are you online?
Not too often. Sometimes I take breaks, e.g. for sleeping.
87. When it comes to your website, who is your target audience?
Literally everyone.
88. Have you ever been interested in XHTML?
Yeah, no. Not really.
89. Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?
I don't know how to write programs. I don't know how to use C++, I'm afraid.
90. Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?
Never used one before but that'd be really cool!
91. Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?
No. Besides, I don't know how many people have visited my website anyway.
92. Do you frequent forums? Which ones?
A little. I sometimes post on the Scratch forums. I also like to lurk on other forums.
93. Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?
Everything is written directly into the text editor.
94. Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you're cool?
I don't know, probably because of my soothing personality?
95. Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?
A little embarrassed of my old art on DeviantArt, but I want to keep it up so that I can see how far I've changed.
96. Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?
If it all goes too much for me then I would stop updating this site, but I wouldn't delete everything.
97. Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?
A little bit.
98. Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?

99. And do you optimise the images on your website?
Yes. I like using the PNG file format for my images because it gives you transparency and no compression unlike JPEGs.
